This unique time-only ref.130, available now, is simply outstanding. It’s original dial with two-tone sector dial and engraved enamelled inscriptions is breathtakingly good looking. The keen eyed amongst you will notice the dial is also signed, “Fab. Suisse” at the bottom of the very cool central cross hairs, this is because this stunning watch was ordered especially for and retailed by, Guillermin & Cie, Patek Philippe’s partner in Paris at the time, who were responsible for some of the most important and rare pieces of the era due to their close relationship with the brand and top clientele.
Sharing its case design with the ref.130 mono-pusher chronograph, which is a grail for vintage Patek collectors, this unique sweep seconds ref.130 combines all the looks, appeal and quality of its mono-pusher counterparts along with the most exciting elements of sector dial Calatrava designs such as those seen in the smaller ref.96. The result is one of the most incredible sector dial Calatrava of the era, with ultimate rarity, great proportion and quality; a piece for even the finest of collections.
This unique and incredible Patek Philippe ref.130JSC is 1 of just 2, central sweep seconds time-only ref.130’s ever known. Having had the pleasure of previously owning and selling the only other known example, we can confirm each is unique in its own right, with the present example featuring a different type of movement which is more highly decorated and this extremely attractive sector dial with central cross hairs and applied gold Arabic numerals (See video on our instagram).
Just 2 serial numbers from its sibling, this special watch was also retailed by Guillermin in Paris. The iconic Vichet 130 monopusher style case, synonymous with the typical chronograph version of the reference which are a grail for collectors, features 4 hallmarks to its exterior, Swiss Helvetia for Geneva and French owl import marks; impressive preservation for such an early piece. The engraved-enamelled stern two-tone sector dial is simply sublime, with the highly attractive cross hairs design, it really looks like a monopusher and is the definition of “if you know, you know”.
