This extremely rare Patek Philippe Metronome is a pocket watch like no other, in fact it isn't even a watch at all! The metronome is one of the rarest complications released by Patek and is one of the only horological pieces released by the brand with no time keeping functionality.
Just 7 examples are known, of which one example sits in pride of place in the Patek Philippe Museum, highlighting the importance of the model. It was also exhibited in the now heralded "Exposition de la fabuleuse collection privée de Patek Philippe" in 1989 and features in the book of the same name. The metronome is also featured in the Patek Philippe Museum books.
This fresh to the market example, 1 of just 7 known, is preserved in truly impressive condition, with the enamel dial featuring no hairline cracks and the piece functioning well mechanically.
The beautiful grand feu enamel dial features a musical score, something only seen on this reference and has to be one of the most attractive dials we have ever seen from the brand, it is simply captivating. The dial is divided into 20 sections and the blued steel hand clicks through each sector to allow a conductor or musician to keep time whilst playing.
